Deadline reported that Mission: Impossible 7 and are no longer shooting back-to-back. After an impossible mission of shooting a globetrotting adventure during a pandemic, Paramount has put Mission: Impossible 8 on a temporary hiatus. This hiatus has nothing to do with the pandemic, rather it is because Tom Cruise is needed to promote Top Gun: Maverick.

With the global Covid vaccine rollout underway, Top Gun: Maverick could make its planned July 2nd release, and Mission: Impossible 7 will most likely debut on November 19, 2021.

UK tabloids reported that the production of Mission: Impossible 7 had been halted by pandemic-related travel issues. Director Christopher McQuarrie’s Instagram post debunks this claim. He and his crew have just wrapped a successful shoot in the Middle East, and are heading to London to put “finishing touches” on the film.

Expect news on the commencement of principal filming of Mission: Impossible 8 in the coming months.
