Michelle Gomez Cast as Madame Rouge in Doom Patrol Season 3

Doom Patrol season 3 is getting a superb new cast member. Michelle Gomez, who played Madame Satan in The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, will play another madame in season 3 of Doom Patrol. Madame Rouge, who is part of the Brotherhood of Evil, first appeared in Doom Patrol #86.

Gomez who routinely camps it up in her roles is perfect for Madame Rouge, especially if season 3 follows her unique backstory. Originally a French actress, Madame Rouge develops a dual good/evil split personality disorder after a car accident. Using her disorder for evil, The Brain, with the help of his associate Monsieur Mallah, rewires her brain so her good personality is suppressed and dominated by her evil side.

The surgery gives her some strange powers including the ability to change her appearance and stretch her limbs.

Sometimes her good side breaks through, and it’s possible season 3 will explore her romance with Doom Patrol leader Niles “The Chief” Caulder (Timothy Dalton). Since The CW’s Crisis on Infinite Earths split the world of Doom Patrol from the world of Titans, we’re unlikely to see her face-off against Beast Boy, who ultimately killed her.

Whatever the plan for Madame Rouge in Doom Patrol season 3, Gomez is a great addition to the cast. Apart from playing Madame Satan in The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Gomez played “Missy,” the female regeneration of the Master in Doctor Who, and most recently appeared in The Flight Attendant on HBO Max.

For season 3, Doom Patrol will appear for the first time on HBO Max. There’s no word on the show’s premiere date.
