Westworld shifted gears in season 3, exploring the real world outside the park. The real world is reminiscent of a pre-Blade Runner world, with “hosts” running amok on the streets of a futuristic LA echoing the replicants of Ridley Scott’s world. There is also a little bit of a Robocop feel with all the various models of robots, who have largely replaced humans in the work-force.
DNEG, a VFX vendor whose award-winning work appears in the MCU, Interstellar, Godzilla: King of Monsters, and upcoming releases, Tenet and Dune, designed and rendered the robots. Here’s their VFX breakdown:
