Director Unveils New Steppenwolf Design For ‘Zack Snyder’s Justice League’
Director Zack Snyder continues to leak new images on VERO for his cut of Justice League. The rushed and disappointing CG design of Steppenwolf from Joss Whedon’s equally rushed and largely re-shot Justice League will be replaced by a far more fitting and badass version of the character.
Back in 2018, concept artist, Greg Ecklund, unveiled pre-vis mockups of a monstrous looking Steppenwolf that was ultimately jettisoned for a more human-looking (and comic book accurate) version of the character in the 2017 release. Many agree Ecklund’s design was a vast improvement. But, from the look of this new image, Snyder has continued down a similar path. This Steppenwolf means business.
Snyder’s remarks accompanying the image say it all: “Just working today. Pulled this out of the editorial. Sorry he’s low-resolution, but I’ve seen him in all his hi-res glory and he’s a thing to behold. Quick question… how many f@*ks do you think he gives???”
This new image is just the latest in new character designs the director has been releasing in recent months. Footage of Superman’s black suit, a new Darkseid design, and a clip of Wonder Woman holding a torch in an ancient temple has pretty much confirmed that Zack Snyder’s Justice League will erase all memory of Whedon’s shoddy theatrical release.
Hopefully, if Snyder’s film lives up to expectations, Warner Bros. will do the right thing and make his film canon in the DCEU. Maybe that will be the next campaign Snyder fans will get behind.
