Pinewood Studios Unveils New ‘Q Stage’ Named After James Bond’s Gadget Master
Ben Whishaw, the latest actor to play James Bond’s gadget master Q, unveiled Pinewood Studios new state-of-the-art stage for both television and film productions.
Revealed by Whishaw at a special ceremony on December 4, the aptly named ‘Q Stage’ boasts a 30,000 sq ft stage and 15,000 sq ft of production accomodation and workshops, the ‘Q Stage’ is part of Pinewood-Shepparton’s expansion plan to meet the demand of increased film and television production in the UK.
The new ‘Q Stage’ was completed on September 27, and joins the famous 007 Stage at Pinewood, together with 007 Drive, Goldfinger Avenue, and Broccoli Road.
Andrew Smith, Director of Strategy and Communications at Pinewood-Shepperton, gave opening remarks before handing over to Whishaw, who declared the ‘Q Stage’ open and revealed the distinctive ‘Q Stage’ sign with a specially designed gadget made by Pinewood-based prop specialists, PropShop.
Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson, co-producers of the Bond series, were part of the distinguished line-up of guests. Both Broccoli and Wilson, who have maintained a strong relationship with Pinewood-Shepperaton over the years, will be honoured by the Producer’s Guild of America at their 25th Annual Producers Awards ceremony in the USA on January 19, 2014.
